BIO
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. From a young age, I was doodling, painting, and creating. I never considered myself the best because art was never that for me. Creating has always been A therapy session for me, a place where I could express my thoughts visually. Once I realized that I could make a living doing something I loved, that's where I struggled. The struggle was figuring how I could not taint the pureness of these therapy sessions & make enough money to eat. I got my BFA at Howard University, where I studied Painting under Akili Ron Anderson. He was a pivotal mentor to me through my training at Howard. He really taught me how to push myself and gave me a lot of insight into the Art world.
Asha Hanna, an emerging American artist, makes it a point to create works with social awareness and full of color that resonates with the expressionist movement. As a contemporary female artist, she creates with a social awareness to engage the public and to articulate current issues in society today. Her works include imagery of women, flowers, and powerful symbols. She works in various media such as painting, sculpture and digital art. This allows her to translate concepts across platforms. As she continues her career, she strives to evoke thought on various topics.
