STATEMENT

Art is an adventure. Every canvas is filled with a narrative, ending with the re-creation of our protagonist. The story begins with the finding of the materials, and the destruction of something beautiful. We stand on the shoulders of giants, we are not bound to them. Jules often draws inspiration from classic pop culture icons, artists, and artwork. She will then break the chains of cultural norms in her hero's journey. Jules doesn't like to be bound to a single media when creating. Each form of media is a tool; via paint, digital, video, or Instagram, she will use what tools fit into her menagerie on canvas. Her paintings often show her process, vulnerability, and triumphs.

Era of Excess

Completed for Extraction built from Extraction Catalogue, and vintage magazine ads, acrylic paint, with video installed. We live in a time of, consumerisms, and excess. As of 2020, human made materials outweigh all living things on Earth. Our Earth, once beautiful, fierce, and highly revered is now covered in piles of trash, needless consumerism, & toxic waste. We can no longer dig to the bottom.

Cathos

Is a reimagining of Selina Kyle, Catwoman, as Alexander Dumas' Three Musketeers, Porto's. Vivacious, quick, and always a bit greedy. She hides her vulnerability with a simple quip and smile, Cathos never knows when to quit. Mixed media on vintage paper.
